‘It was a great feeling’ – Ghanaian teen Felix Ohene Gyan reacts to being named in Roma squad for Napoli clash

Ghanaian teenager Felix Ohene Gyan said 'it was a great feeling' after he was included in Roma squad for the Serie A clash against Napoli.

Jose Mourinho named the 18-year-old on the bench for the important clash that ended goalless at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday evening.

The striker could not make his debut in the heated game, but sitting on the bench in itself is an achievement for the Gyan, who early this year was playing in the lower tier of Ghana football.

"It was a great feeling at the stadium yesterday. I have never experienced such an atmosphere,” the youngster told Ghanasoccernet.com.

"I felt nervous at the beginning and later I had it in mind that the coach had confidence in me that’s why he called me".

"So, I relaxed and I was ready to play when I get the chance."

"It's just a matter of time and hard work. I need to be consistent with performance.”

Roma signed Gyan in March this year. Without European football experience, Gyan registered with the U17 team before being promoted to the U19, where he is now a key player.

In his absence this weekend, the U19 side were held 2-2 by Empoli. He probably could’ve made a difference if he played.

Gyan has scored six goals in the U19 league and leads the top scorers' chart.
