Match fixing scandal: Inter Allies demoted to Division Two over match manipulation

Division One side Inter Allies have been demoted to the third tier of Ghanaian football following their role in the match fixing scandal against Ashantigold. 

The former Ghana Premier League side were found guilty of match manipulation during their game against Ashantigold on the final game of last season.

The game ended 7-0 with two bizarre goals from Hashim Musah.

"Inter Allies have will be demoted to Division Two after being found guilty of match manipulation in their 2020/21 Ghana Premier League matchday 34 game against Ashantigold at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium.

"The decision takes effect from the 2022/23 season."

Inter Allies will join Ashantigold in the third tier next season for playing a match of convenience.

Several players and officials have also been banned for their role in the scandal which has hit Ghanaian football.

Inter Allies were relegated from the topflight last season after almost a decade in the Ghana Premier League.
