Pep Guardiola vows to push Kevin De Bruyne 'out of his comfort zone' because he can be even BETTER

Pep Guardiola has said that Kevin De Bruyne can reach a higher level of performance.

De Bruyne’s exquisite goal saw off Chelsea and Guardiola said that nothing he had achieved in six years at City would have been possible without the Belgian.

But he also said that the performance of the 30-year-old, who had been struggling to hit the levels he attained last year, was still ‘not his best’.

Guardiola said: ‘My job as a manager is to demand more. I want to put him out of his comfort zone and make him believe he can do better.

‘I want more, because I know he can do it. I want Kevin to play better in some moments and some games and I have to demand it because I know he can do it.’

Guardiola also paid tribute to the mentality of Joao Cancelo, whose pass setting up the Belgian’s run through on goal reflected the way he had put behind him a terrifying burglary at his home which left him with facial injuries.

‘They are human beings,’ the manager said. ‘Sometimes, one is a bit low because of personal business. I have personal business as well.’
