Real Madrid confident of completing Kylian Mbappe signing before Champions League final

Published on: 17 May 2022

Real Madrid expect Kylian Mbappe to confirm where his future lays before the Champions League final later this month and 90min understands that Los Blancos are confident they will secure his signature.

Real have been chasing Mbappe for years and tried signing him last summer - only for the deal to fall through at the death. However, as 90min have reported for some time, their interest has remained strong this season with the forward's contract set to expire in the summer.

Despite this, PSG have not given up hope that he will pen fresh terms in the French capital. The forward has enjoyed another terrific campaign this time out, registering 36 goals and 26 assists in 45 appearances.

Mbappe recently confirmed that the long-awaited decision on his future will be known 'very soon' and 90min understands that Real are expecting him to confirm his choice before the Champions League final on Saturday 28 May.

Club sources believe Mbappe will decide to move to Spain, although they have denied claims that personal terms have been agreed with the 23-year-old.

Listen now to 90min's brand new podcast, Talking Transfers, with Scott Saunders, Graeme Bailey & Toby Cudworth. This week they discuss Man Utd's plans for Cristiano Ronaldo under Erik ten Hag, plus what his stay could mean for United's transfer plans. There's talk on Kylian Mbappe's impending move to Real Madrid, Robert Lewandowski leaving Bayern, Raphinha to Barcelona and Steven Gerrard targeting Luis Suarez.

From PSG's side, the Ligue 1 champions remain adamant that Mbappe could yet stay at the club, with talks ongoing with the Frenchman in a final attempt to convince him to snub Real's advances and extend his stay in Paris.

The Parisians have just one game left this season with the Ligue 1 title already assured. They host Metz on Saturday in what looks like being Mbappe's last game in a PSG shirt.
