U17 Women’s World Cup qualifier: Sports Ministry urges Black Maidens to qualify ahead of Morocco in second leg

Ghana’s Sports Ministry has congratulated the Black Maidens of Ghana following their 2-0 win against Morocco in the first leg of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifier.

Ghana and Moroccco battle it out in the final hurdle of the qualifiers for a ticket to India

The Black Maidens hosted their Moroccan counterparts in the first leg played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday.

Goals from Stella Nyamekye and Nancy Amoah scored the two goals in both halves to secure the win for the national women’s U17 team.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports in a statement released have congratulated the Maidens and urged them to beat their Moroccan counterparts to secure qualification.

“Congratulations to the Black Maiden for a hard fought victory.  You have one more match to qualify to the World Cup. Be resilient and ensure the qualification comes in a grand style in Morocco. Go girls!”

The Maidens are aiming for a record seventh FIFA U17 Women's World Cup appearance.

Ghana will travel to Morocco for the second leg next week.
