Ghana attacker Emmanuel Gyasi scored an own goal and it proved costly as Spezia were beaten by Sampdoria in Serie A.
Sampdoria won 2-1 at Luigi Ferraris Stadium on Friday night.
Gyasi, unfortunately, headed the ball into his own net to give Sampdoria the lead in the 15th minute.
The Dorians doubled the lead after 36 minutes, when Candreva found the back of the net with a neat finish from the left.
Spezia stepped up their game in the second half and pushed to reply and reduce the deficit. Their goal however came far too late, as substitute Daniele Verde scored the 2-1 goal four minutes into stoppage time.
Gyasi was substituted in the 59th minute after failing to recover from the setback.
