World Cup qualifiers: It will be disaster if Ghana don't qualify from Group G, says Agyemang-Badu

Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu says Black Stars must do everything possible to top Group G and progress to the final round of 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

He said: "It will be a disaster if we don't qualify from our group because none of the countries can be compared to Ghana in terms of individual players, so we don't have any option other than to qualify."

The Black Stars started well with a win against Ethiopia, albeit an uninspiring performance, to go top of Group G after matchday 1.

However, they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat in Johannesburg against South Africa to leave them in the second position, a point behind Bafana Bafana.

One point is not much for the Black Stars to catch up however, Ghanaians have lost trust in head coach Charles Akonnor and his boys simply because they failed to impress in this month's games.

Against Ethiopia, they were aided by the visiting goalkeeper's horrendous mistake to win the match by a single goal at the Cape Coast stadium.

Three days later, the performance exhibited at the FNB stadium was utterly unbefitting of a team that many regard as one of the best on the continent having been crowned African champions four times.

Akonnor and his boys must win next month's double-header against Zimbabwe to stay in contention.
