Inkoom: "I knew I was going to score"

Ghana defender Samuel Inkoom has revealed he had a premonition of scoring in Tuesday night's Uefa Champions League Group E match against Italian giants AS Roma.

Swiss side FC Basel stunned Roma with a 1-3 win at the Stadio Olimpico as they picked up their first win of the campaign.

Xherdan Shaquiri's pass found Inkoom inside the area and his diagonal effort beat Roma goalkeeper Bogdan Lobont on 44 minutes to give them a 1-2 lead before the interval.

The 20-year-old said he put in much work to score his first goal in Europe's flagship club competition.

"I had the feeling all day that I was going to score that is why," Inkoom told Ghanasoccernet.com "I even told my coach that I was going to score because throughout the week I was scoring in training."

"It is magnificent to score in the Champions League as a right back and with this performance the world will take notice."

Basel took a 12th minute lead through Alexander Frei before Marco Borriello restored parity in the 21st minute.

The Swiss outfit had the last say with Cabral latching on to Scott Chipperfield's pass before driving the ball past Lobont.
