Inter preparing to move for Zenit Saint Petersburg defender

Published on: 21 June 2016

Inter are thought to be considering a move for Argentine Zenit Saint Petersburg defender Ezequiel Garay.

The Nerazzurri are interested in strengthening their defensive ranks and the 29-year-old is one of the possible signings for coach Roberto Mancini.

According to Tuttosport, the player himself is interested in leaving Russia as he is keen to return to the Argentina setup, having not played for his country since their 2-0 loss at the hands of Ecuador in the World Cup qualifiers last October.

The former Benfica defender is currently valued in the region of €20 million, and Mancini could look to flex the Nerazzurri’s newfound financial muscle in order to bring the defender to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Garay has accumulated 20 appearances in the last Premier Liga campaign with Zenit, scoring two goals in the process.
