The transfer market values of players across Europe's top five leagues have plummeted as a direct consequence of the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic according to a report from the CIES Football Observatory.

CIES have estimated that there has been a decrease of no less than 28% in transfer values across Europe's top five leagues meaning the total value of all players has dropped from €32.7 billion to €23.4 billion.

There are several contributing factors to these decreases such as age, contract duration and recent performances. CIES have used Manchester United and France star Paul Pogba as an example and estimate that his value has dropped from €65 million to €35 million.

As far as teams as a whole are concerned, Ligue 1 outfit Marseille have been affected the most with their squad's value dropping by some 37.9%.

Inter have in fact been the second worst affected of all teams in Europe's top five leagues with the total squad value dropping 35.7% from €773 million to €497 million.
