The Ghana Football Association is contemplating naming an interim coach for next month's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan at home.

Assistant coach Akwasi Appiah is likely to take charge of the team as stop-gap against the Nile Crocodiles.

This comes after Ghanasoccernet revealed a picture of coach Milovan Rajevac after sealing a deal with Saudi side Al Ahly.

The GFA stood by their promise of giving the Serbian by Sunday for him to sign a new four-year contract.

But 24 hours before the deadline, Ghanasoccernet exclsively showed Rajevac beaming with smiles after sealing the lucrative one-year contract in Jeddah.

This has left the federation with no option but to consider naming an interim coach before a final decision is made.

"We will meet as a unit on Monday to discuss the matter but on top of my mind, I think an interim coach will be named to take charge for the 10 October Nations Cup qualifier against Sudan," Ghana FA spokesperson Randy Abbey exclusively told Ghanasoccernet.com

"But at Monday's meeting we will think through the matter and take a decision."

Rajevac had offered to sign the contract extension with to continue to coach Ghana after leading the Black Stars to the quarter finals of the World Cup.

With government delaying in approving the deal for the Serbian, the Saudis romped in with an offer which was rejected by his manager.

The manager insisted since he had given his assurance to the Ghanaian public, players and officials the coach must abide by his words.

But the coach opted to go with British agent Alexander Wallis to sign the contract with Ahly.
