Ghana midfielder Isaac Cofie has shared his experience at Sivasspor in his first season.

The former Genoa pivot joined the Turkish side last summer after signing a two year deal with the club from Sporting Gijon.

Sivasspor finished fourth in the Turkish Super Lig whiles securing Europa league spot in the process. In a questions and answers session with Isaac Cofie described his first season at the club as a success.

Question: It's your first season in Turkey. How would you describe your experience in the country so far?

Ans :I would say it was a positive season! Playing time was alternating but yes lot has been learned to help me improve for the next season in Turkey.

Question: What were your expectations going into the season after joining Sivasspor?

Ans: My expectations were to play with continuity, make an impact in the league and help Sivasspor get a better placing in the league. I would say it was an incredible season for Sivasspor as a whole.

Ques: What were some of the low period in season for you ?

Ans: The low periods were the red cards a got both in the league game as well as the cup game. It cost me my place in the team but I have no regrets because as a versatile player I always play with a boiling heart so it can happen sometimes. Learnt to be more careful after those moments.

Ques: Are you satisfied with your performance in your first season with Sivasspor and why?

Ans: I can say am happy about my contributions anytime I have been given the chance. We were able to qualify for Europe league so yes it’s satisfying to be part of this achievement with a small and ambitious team like Sivasspor.

Ques: What has changed in your game after joining Sivasspor?

Ans: Nothin really has changed as a player but the one thing i can say has changed is, its better to defend very low around your penalty area than to risk high pressing the opponent’s team thereby leaving a big space behind your defensive line for the opponents to attack and sometimes we get punished when it happens.

Ques: Who amongst your teammates did you bond well with and why ?

Ans: Had a cool and professional relationship with everyone but I would say Paul Papp and Arouna Kone. Papp because we played together in Chievo when i was in Italy. Kone because of his vast experience, humility and still his zeal to work hard even though he’s the oldest in the team, therefore i learnt a lot from this bond with him.

Ques: How was your relationship with the other Ghanaian in the league?

Ans: It was great. Full of respect for each other. We definitely knew each other before we all got transferred to Turkey. I talk more with Chibsah and Acquah though.

Isaac has voiced his intention to stay at Sivasspor to fulfil his contract commitment. He has another season left to see out.
