Ghanaian coach Bismark Kobby Mensah is confident that the Black Stars can qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite their recent setback in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON failing to clinch a single win in six games. This has dwindled the hopes of Ghanaians with many fearing the team could record worse outcomes in the near future
However, the former assistant coach of the Black Galaxies, believes that with proper preparation and honest introspection, Ghana can overcome their current challenges and book their ticket to the World Cup.
"It is possible to qualify for the World Cup. You can never say never, but it comes down to preparations," Mensah said in an interview with Asempa FM.
The Black Stars are currently second in Group I of the World Cup qualifiers with nine points, and Mensah is urging the team to learn from their AFCON setback and focus on preparing well for their upcoming qualifiers.
Ghana will face Chad next in March 2025, and Mensah is optimistic that the team can churn out good results and qualify for their fifth World Cup.
