The head coach of Asante Kotoko, Prosper Narteh Ogum has indicated that it was very important for his team to secure a win against Basake Holy Stars over the past weekend to top the Ghana Premier League table.

The gaffer guided his Porcupine Warriors to a 1-0 win in the game played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Speaking in his post-match interview, coach Prosper Ogum opened up on how his team won the game while sharing his delight about picking all three points on the matchday.

“If you look at our structure on the field we were able to hold onto the ball and try as much as possible to tease them and then create the opportunity to score and out of that we went on attack and then the ball came back and then Tenadu took that thunderbolt of a strike that took the deflection and went into the post. I think in all, our structure was good.

“They came on a high line always leaving the spaces behind them which we played the ball into to create chances to score. So to me it was a good game and the most important thing is that we got the three points and we are on top of the log,” coach Prosper Narteh Ogum said.

Following the win against Holy Stars, Kotoko leapfrogged Gold Stars to top the Ghana Premier League table with 42 points.

The Kumasi-based club is now preparing for the next fixture against Berekum Chelsea.
