It's not the end of the road - Black Princesses goalkeeper Afi Amenyeku after Austria defeat

Black Princesses goalkeeper Afi Amenyeku is confident his team will bounce back after a terrible start to their U20 Women's World Cup campaign where they lost to debutants Austria on Monday night.

Playing in their seventh World Cup, Ghana hoped for a strong start but ultimately succumbed to a 2-1 defeat.

Ghana now face an even more daunting task as they will battle 2018 champions Japan and New Zealand to stand a chance of qualifying from the group phase for the first time.

“As a goalkeeper, I would say football is a game of chance. When the opponent gets their chance and utilizes it, that goal is something we could have avoided, but that's football," Amenyeku stated after the game.

“Yes, as a team, I think I'm okay. I'm impressed with how I saw my colleagues. We were all determined to win, but unfortunately, we couldn't get it.

“However, this is not the end of the road. We still have two matches to go, so we are looking forward to that.”
