Ivorian winger Wilfried Zaha joins MLS side Charlotte FC on loan

Ivorian forward Wilfried Zaha has signed with Major League Soccer (MLS) club Charlotte FC on a loan deal lasting until January 2026, with an option to extend through June 2026.

The 32-year-old, who recently played on loan at Lyon from Galatasaray, has struggled for game time this season, making just six appearances for the French club, five of them as a substitute.

Zaha will occupy a Designated Player slot at Charlotte FC, a rule in MLS that permits clubs to sign up to three high-profile players outside the salary cap.

Charlotte FC’s general manager, Zoran Krneta, praised Zaha as a "world-class talent" and an "elite goalscorer," adding, "Wilfried’s performances in the Premier League and on the international stage speak for themselves. We are confident he can make an immediate impact in Major League Soccer."

Zaha is best known for his time at Crystal Palace, where he made 458 appearances—the third-most in the club’s history—and scored 90 goals.

He briefly joined Manchester United in 2013 before returning to Palace a year later.

After leaving Palace in 2023, Zaha joined Galatasaray, scoring 10 goals and contributing five assists in his debut season as the Turkish side claimed the Super Lig title.
