James Rodriguez is on the market, as he isn't in Benitez's plans

James Rodriguez is up for sale this summer, with Rafa Benitez's arrival at Everton putting the Colombian's future in doubt again.

Just one year after joining the Toffees to work under Carlo Ancelotti, James is likely to be on the move again this off-season.

El Chiringuito have reported that he's not part of Benitez's plans, while the Liverpool Echo have also said that the club are happy to sell him for the right price in order to reinvest in the squad at Goodison Park.

Ancelotti's exit was always likely to put his position in doubt and there couldn't have been a replacement for the Italian less suited to James' game than Benitez. Whereas Ancelotti was happy to let the Colombian neglect his defensive duties in order to affect the game once Everton were in possession, the Spanish coach will demand that he gives his all to help the team when they're defending.

With a year still left on his contract, and a high salary as well, Everton now want to sell.

Serie A appears to be a likely destination, and one that James is open to, but AC Milan have been the most interested in him and they cannot afford his wages. For a deal to be done, James will have to accept a pay cut.
