Janmaat maintaining bright outlook in face of Newcastle gloom

Published on: 01 December 2015

Newcastle United defender Daryl Janmaat is remaining positive despite the doom and gloom surrounding his side at the moment.

Newcastle slumped to 19th place in the Premier League table following a humiliating 5-1 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace last weekend and many now feel that the Magpies are certainties for relegation this season.

Despite the uncertain times at St James' Park, Janmaat is remaining positive and has stated that there is still a lot of time for Magpies boss Steve McClaren to turn things around.

Janmaat said: "For him (McClaren), it is hard as well.

"He came in the summer with a lot of ambitions. We bought some new players in and we all expected more from the start of the season.

"It's disappointing and I understand it but there are still 24 games to go.

"It is not over still, we have chances enough. We have to put it right quickly."
