January deals available at AC Milan, Inter, Juventus, Lazio and Roma

January brings a chance for Serie A sides to strengthen their squads ahead of the second half of the season, whether they are fighting for the Scudetto or the Champions League, Italian football’s biggest sides also have a number of players considered surplus to requirements.

Be it age, form or performances of teammates, some players will be looking for pastures new in the next month.

Here are some of the most likely transfers and deals for others to expect in the coming month.

With Mauro Icardi and Lautaro Martinez first and second choice strikers for the Nerazzurri, Inter will likely want to offload Gabigol in January. It looks like a move back to Brazil is on the cards, with Flamengo the frontrunners at the moment.

Another who hasn’t set the Stadio Meazza alight is Antonio Candreva and given his playing time this season has, thus far, been limited, a move to pastures new may well be in the offing. He isn’t short of offers.

With the arrival of Stefan De Vrij, and his partnership with Milan Skriniar, the future of Miranda is up in the air. The Brazilian has told Inter he wants to play more, and despite being trusted in big matches by Luciano Spalletti, the 34-year-old wants more minutes, which could see him depart the Nerazzurri.

Unwanted and having barely played in the last couple of years, former AC Milan captain Riccardo Montolivo looks to be on his way out of the Stadio San Siro this winter. Bologna are following the midfielder.

After 18 months with little progress at Milan, Fabio Borini could decide to leave for China. An offer of €15 million has come in for the player and the Rossoneri look likely to accept, but it remains to be seen if he will make the move.

One addition to the Milan squad could come in the shape of Cesc Fabregas whose Chelsea adventure looks set to end. Several sides are monitoring the midfielder’s situation, though salary demands may put pay to the Rossoneri’s interest.

The first millennial to score in Serie A after a fruitful loan spell with Hellas Verona last season. In the summer he decided to stay with Juventus, but has found playing time hard to come by, making just two substitute appearances all season. He will likely be loaned out again.

After it looked like he would be on his way to Frosinone in the summer, Danilo Cataldi decided to stay with Lazio but has found little room in the capital outside the Europa League. A youth graduate and Aquile fan, he desperately wants to stay, but at the same time needs to get minutes on the pitch, so a loan move may come to pass.

After injuries, poor showings and a fallout with Eusebio Di Francesco, it looks like Rick Karsdorp will be on the way out of Roma sooner rather than later. Now behind Davide Santon in the pecking order, a loan or permanent move will most definitely happen.
