Ghana international Jeffrey Schlupp has put Kwesi Appiah on red alert as he readies his team for the World Cup after helping Leicester City to gain promotion back to the English Premier League.

The 21-year-old has been one of Leicester’s key performers this season where his versatility has gone beyond borders, making a bold statement about a potential inclusion into the Black Stars ahead of the 2014 World Cup.

The former Manchester United target was outstanding for the Foxes as they posted a 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday to make return to the summit of English football after a 10-year absence.

The Ghanaian international, who can play as a forward and has been used as a left back, has excelled at that role.

His performances has alerted a number of stellar clubs to take notice and now knocking hard on the doors of Kwesi Appiah ahead of the World Cup.

The Africans have experimented with a number of players at the problematic left-back role without huge success.

Tunisia-based Harrison Afful seems to have stabilized the position but there are many who feel he can operate better if he is shifted to the right-back role – his current role at Esperance.

Schlupp has justified his immense talent and could gatecrash Kwesi Appiah’s squad ahead of the global showpiece in Brazil.

He could be added piece who can turn things around at the back for the West Africans if given the chance to represent the country at the biggest stage of world football.
