Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Jeremie Frimpong is enjoying a tremendous season and is highly fancied to end the campaign with a best young player award in the Scottish Premier League.

The former Manchester City defender was relatively unknown before the season commenced however, he has become one of the standout players earning plaudits from managers, teammates and fans.

The 19-year-old has been in sensational form for defending champions Celtic and has been a constant figure in the team since making his Hoops debut against Partick Thistle in the Betfred Cup in October last year.

Thus far, he has made 22 appearances in all competitions and has been involved in six goals [two goals and four assists] which is more than any young player in the Scottish top-flight this season.

Frimpong is eligible to play for Ghana but according to reports, the young man is committed to the Netherlands, having represented the European country at Under 17 and 20 levels.
