Ghanaian defender Jerome Opoku scored a crucial goal for BaÅakÅehir in their narrow 3-2 defeat to Konyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday.
Playing the full 90 minutes, Opoku's close-range finish in first-half stoppage time leveled the score at 1-1, keeping BaÅakÅehir in the contest before halftime.
The match, held at the MedaÅ Konya BüyükÅehir Stadyumu, saw Alassane Ndao open the scoring for Konyaspor in the 32nd minute and then strike twice more in the second half to complete his hat-trick. His goals, including a well-taken shot in the 50th and a close-range finish in the 73rd minute, put the hosts firmly in control.
Despite a late header by Krzysztof Piatek in stoppage time, BaÅakÅehir couldn’t secure a comeback. Opoku’s impressive form continues, bringing his season tally to two goals and two assists in 10 Super Lig appearances.
BaÅakÅehir will now focus on their upcoming UEFA Conference League match against FC København on November 7th.
