Jesurun Rak-Sakyi: Injuries set me back last season

English-born Ghanaian forward Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has admitted that injuries severely affected his momentum last season, following his outstanding performance on loan at Charlton Athletic.

The young forward, on loan from Crystal Palace, emerged as Charlton's best player during the 2022/23 season. However, an injury setback saw Rak-Sakyi struggle to maintain his form, disrupting his progress in the following campaign.

Now at Sheffield United, Rak-Sakyi is determined to revive his form. His impact was evident in the Week 9 fixture against Luton Town, where he scored twice to secure a 2-0 victory for his side.

The 22-year-old opened the scoring in the 12th minute, converting a lobbed pass from Anel Ahmedhodžić, and sealed the win with a composed finish in the 52nd minute.

Reflecting on his journey, Rak-Sakyi acknowledged the challenges he faced: "At Charlton, it was very good, but I had a lot of injuries last season that set me back. I'm just grateful to God and to everyone around me who pushes me every day to do better. I'm just so happy for everyone around me."

Despite the setbacks, Rak-Sakyi is quickly making his mark at Sheffield United, playing a crucial role in their Championship campaign after earning Player of the Year honors at Charlton Athletic last season.
