John Boye is a surprise call-up in Ghana squad to face Swaziland

France-based defender John Boye is a surprise inclusion in Ghana's strong 22-man squad named for next month's African Nations Cup qualifier against Swaziland.

The 23-year-old last played for the Black Stars two years ago in the first round of the joint 2010 Nations Cup/World Cup qualifiers.

Boye, a lanky centre-back, has struggled for first team football since moving to French Ligue 1 side Rennes from local side Heart of Lions in the summer of 2008.

He is expected to shore up Ghana's back line in the absence of Sunderland defender John Mensah who is hamstrung.

Head coach Milovan Rajevac squad has handed debut call-up to Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Isaac Amoako.

He replaces Stephen Ahorlu who has moved to Israeli side Hapoel Ashkelon.
