Ghana defender John Boye was the hero for FC Metz after his lone goal secured a win against Strasbourg in the French Ligue 1 on Saturday.
Vincent Hognon's team went into the match with the hope of beginning the year with a victory against Strasbourg in the Grand Est derby
The Maroons had the better exchanges of the ball but could not make it count in the score line as the first half ended in a goalless draw.
Their dominance was reward in the 68th minute when defensive stalwart John Boye tap home from close range. The Ghana international was in the right place at the right time to get to the rebound inside the box and gleefully rifled the ball into the right side of the goal.
The 32-year-old's lone goal proved to be the winner as FC Metz grabbed their fourth win of the season.
Boye enjoyed the entire duration of the match.
