John Mensah donates to Ashgold and others

Ghana deputy captain John Mensah has ended his charitable tour across the country with a cash and jersey donation to Premier League campaigners AshGold in Obuasi.

Mensah, who hails from the mining town, made a donation of four set of jerseys and fourteen pairs of boots to boost the team ahead of their participation in continental club competitions this season.

He also donated an amount of 20 million cedis to the players and club official as gift to boost their performance ahead of the new football season

Mensah also gifted club CEO Cudjoe Fianoo and Coach David Duncan with designer watches for leading the club to finish second in the Ghana Premier League last season.

Fianoo thanked Mensah for his gesture and praised him for setting a shining example for Ghanaian players based abroad.

The CEO said Mensah’s bigheartedness musty be emulated by players who are financially capable of helping the needy in society and struggling football clubs.

Mensah promised to follow the progress of the club during the league and continental matches and that he will help the club on his next return to the country.

AshGold supporters were not left out of Mensah’s generosirty as they were given 1 million cedis for help in funding their activities.

Meanwhile before the unexpected visit to Ashgold, Mensah donated cash and foot items to two orphanages in Obuasi estimated at 50 million cedis.

The Abdullahi Orhphanage, which benefits annually from the Ghana international, was given 20 million cedis while the Home of Sympathy got a similar amount.

Mensah was highly praised for his charity work which he personally funds.

This ends his charity tour of the country which took him to several parts of the country.
