Eriksson sacking could boost Pantsil's chances

Ghana and Leicester City defender John Pantsil has stated that the departure of manager Sven Goran Eriksson could revive his fortunes at the English side.

The right-back moved has struggled for playing time at the Championship side under the famous Swedish manager.

Pantsil joined the club in the summer after seeing out his contract at Premier League side Fulham.

Despite admitting that the Swede played a key role in him joining the Foxes, the Ghana defender insists he wants regular playing time.

He told MTNFootball.com in an interview: "He is a special coach and everyone knows about him – the whole world knows about his quality.

"For me, I always want to work with the manager who will trust me and give me playing time. That is what I want."

Pantsil has made four appearances for Leicester City including a 100th English League cap last week against Birmingham.

Former Leicester boss Martin O'Neill will be installed as a favourite to take charge at King Power Stadium, having left a successful first spell at the club in 2000.
