Jokanovic eyes 'important step'

Slavisa Jokanovic claims a win for his Fulham side at fellow strugglers Huddersfield on Monday night would be a "really important step" for the team.

The Cottagers boss is under increasing pressure this season as the Londoners have endured a miserable start on their return to the Premier League despite spending over £100million on new players in the summer transfer window.

They go to the John Smith's Stadium in the final relegation place with just one win and five points from their opening 10 matches.

It's not the last game in the Premier League. Victory would be a really important step for us, but it's definitely not the last step.

Huddersfield are bottom, two points behind them, so both teams will see Monday's clash as a chance to pick up a victory.

Jokanovic stopped short of declaring the game as must-win for Fulham, but he recognises that it will provide a huge boost if they do come out on top.

"It's a really important game for both teams," the Serbian said. "We are going to go there with every intention of winning the game.

"It's not the last game in the Premier League. Victory would be a really important step for us, but it's definitely not the last step.

"If we don't take this step there's still a long period for us to do everything to reach our targets."

Fulham, who are 10/11 to stay up this season, are priced at 23/10 to win on Monday, while Huddersfield are priced at 13/10 to win their first game of the season and the draw is 5/2.
