Former Tottenham boss Martin Jol has been appointed as the new coach of Egyptian giants Al Ahly in one of the biggest contracts for coaches on the African continent at club level.

The Dutchman will earn £110,000 a month, with a three-month breakout clause.

The 60-year-old  signed the deal in Cairo on Wednesday that will make him the highest paid club coach on the African continent

Jol has been tasked with returning Al Ahly to its status as Africa's most successful side counting on his experience as coach of European top sides Ajax Amsterdam, Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham FC and Hamburg.

This massive appointment comes after Al Ahly's arch rivals Zamalek revealed another notable European coach Alex McLeish has agreed to take over Zamalek.
