Jonah Kusi-Asare’s rise through Bayern Munich’s ranks hit a major milestone on Saturday, April 26, as the talented 17-year-old Swedish-Ghanaian striker made his Bundesliga debut.
Kusi-Asare came off the bench in the 88th minute, replacing Harry Kane during Bayern’s clash with FSV Mainz 05 on Matchday 31.
The young forward has been steadily building momentum since joining Bayern. Signed on February 1, 2024, for a reported â¬4.5 million, Kusi-Asare was initially placed with the club’s under-19 side. His performances quickly earned him a promotion to Bayern Munich II ahead of the 2024â25 season.
He made his Bayern Munich II debut on August 30, 2024, in a Regionalliga Bayern match that ended 1â1 against DJK Vilzing. His progress caught the attention of the senior team, leading to his first Bundesliga squad call-up for a 2â1 defeat against Mainz 05 on December 14, 2024.
Kusi-Asare also featured in a winter friendly on January 6, 2025, replacing Michael Olise in the 63rd minute of a dominant 6â0 win over Red Bull Salzburg.
