Jonathan Mensah breaks stats at MLS is Back tournament with cracking numbers

Ghana defender and Columbus Crew captain Jonathan Mensah has set some raking figures in the MLS this season putting him top of all defenders at the competition. 

Mensah's leadership and outstanding displays in Crew's defence has seen the Gold and Blacks yet to concede in 270 minutes at the MLS is Back tournament.

In all games this season, the towering defender has played 450 minutes, making him the player with most minutes on the pitch.

The former Ashantigold player is the defender with the most clearances (36) in the Major League Soccer this season, and has made 326 successful passes putting him ahead of every other player in the United States.

Mensah has also helped Columbus Crew to four clean sheets.

The Ohio based club were the best team from the group stages of the MLS is Back tournament, winning all three games without conceding a goal.

Columbus Crew will play Minnesota United in the round of 16, with the Ghanaian hoping to be the first African captain to win the MLS with the Gold and Blacks.

The 30-year old joined the MLS side in 2017 and has gone  on to make 82 appearance in the regular season, with three goals to his credit.
