Marseille striker Jordan Ayew prefers to focus on the challenge his side face in the Uefa Champions League against Olympiacos rather than Paris St Germain in Ligue 1 at the weekend.
Defeat in the league to Montpellier has put pressure on Marseille but Ghanian Ayew is not even thinking about facing the capital side despite that being the focus of attention in France.
Marseille sit second behind Arsenal in Champions League Group F and Ayew knows picking up three points against Olympiacos is important.
"From a personal standpoint, I am focused on Olympiacos," Ayew told the club website, om.net.
"After that, it's true that the media focus more on Sunday's game against Paris. But the Champions League is really important.If we win, we would make a great step towards the knockout (stages). If we make a draw it will not disastrous either."
Ayew believes Olympiacos will be a different prospect than the first time the sides met in September when OM won 1-0 in Greece.
He added: "When we faced Olympiacos last September, the players had not played a competitive match. They were so short of benchmarks and real competition. (On) Wednesday it will be a different story. The team is now oiled and running at full speed. They are now second in the championship, undefeated and only two points behind leaders Panathinaikos."
Ayew is aware Marseille would top the group if they beat Olympiacos and Arsenal do not win against Borussia Dortmund.
''If we succeed, this will put us in a good position for the draw for the knockout (stages). But the most important thing is to reach the next round. It was one of the objectives set by the club early in the season."
Ayew believes OM can beat Dortmund in their final game if they have to but wants a positive result against Olympiacos to make that match at home to the German side more comfortable.
"We have the means to get a result at home (against Dortmund). But it's true that success on Wednesday night would make that task an easier one."
