Muharraq: Jordan moved a step closer to a fourth WAFF Women's Championship title with victory over Palestine, while Bahrain dropped their first points of the competition against United Arab Emirates on Matchday Four in Bahrain.
UNITED ARAB EMIRATES 1-1 BAHRAIN
Bahrain's perfect record suffered a blow when they were held to a 1-1 draw by a United Arab Emirates side playing their final match of the competition.
The hosts got off to a flying start when tournament revelation Hessa Alisa scored a superb 19th-minute opener, as the 23-year-old seized on a sloppy pass to slam the ball into the bottom corner of the net from 20 yards.
The goal was the Bahraini's star's fourth in three matches, but it was cancelled out by a deft headed equaliser by Alanoud Aladwan in the 35th minute.
Despite their best efforts, neither side could find a decisive goal, leaving Bahrain all to play for in Tuesday's final match against Jordan.
PALESTINE 0-3 JORDAN
Jordan took full advantage of Bahrain's draw, powering to the top of the table with a commanding 3-0 win over Palestine in Matchday Four's late kick-off.
Abeer Alnahar's 16th-minute opener got the Jordanians up and running, before Raya Hina continued her rich vein of form to double the advantage in the 36th minute.
Hina's second goal - putting her level with Alisa at the top of the scorers' chart - sealed the victory for Al Nashmiyat with seven minutes remaining and set up a mouth-watering final-day scenario.
Jordan's win means they will only need a draw against Bahrain on Tuesday to retain their title, while defeat will see the hosts win the West Asian women's crown for the first time.
