Black Stars forward Joseph Painstil has scored his tenth goal for Los Angeles Galaxy after netting in the defeat to Portland Timbers in the MLS on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
The Ghana international, who joined the MLS side in February, gave the Western Conference leaders hope after pulling a goal back on the hour mark against Timbers.
However, the host restored their two-goal lead with ten minutes remaining after Felipe Mora fired home.
Portland Timbers got off to a bright start after Evander and Jonathan Rodriguez scored before the 40th-minute mark. Gabriel Pec pulled one back for the visitors at the stroke of half time before Paintsil added the second after the break.
It was the Ghanaian winger's ninth goal in the MLS and tenth across all competitions.
Despite the defeat, LA Galaxy have clinched their place in the play-offs, comfortably sitting top of the Western Conference table with 55 points.
Paintsil has been a key figure at the California-based club, making a 16-goal contribution in the MLS this season.
