A radio commentator with Berekum-based Agoro FM Seth Dadzie escaped a mob attack when outraged fans of Berekum Arsenal went berserk after the club's 1-1 draw with AshantiGold.

The angry supporters claimed the journalist had reported an incident where a Berekum Arsenal fan had climbed the inner perimeter to slap AshantiGold player Didier Kore who was red carded two minutes to full time.

It took the intervention of the few security personnel at the venue, colleague journalists, some officials of the two clubs to whisk him away from the disgruntled mob.

Several other reporters at the venue had to seek refuge after they were heard live on radio to have reported the unruly behaviour by the supporters.

Dadzie told GHANAsoccernet: "For now am very well now but it was a very unfortunate incident because my life was really in danger at that moment and I have really been traumatized by that."

Berekum Arsenal were banned for three home matches last season after fans attacked a referee when the side played Liberty Professionals.

Fans of the club at a nearby town in Berekum were also believed to have attacked an official of Medeama SC when the latter had went to perform rituals before the two sides clashed two weeks ago.
