Juande signs two-year Glory deal

Perth Glory have completed the signing of Spanish midfielder Juande on a two-year deal.

The former Spain U-21 international, who spent four years with Real Betis at the start of his career, arrives after a stint with Serie B side Spezia Calcio.

He's the sixth signing of the close-season by new coach Tony Popovic, as the Glory rebuild their squad ready for a Finals Series challenge.

Perth's football director Jacob Burns said the Spaniard had everything the club needed from a central defender.

He added: "He has a great passing range, can operate as a playmaker and also go box-to-box and I'm sure he'll prove to be another excellent addition to the squad."

The 31-year-old made his La Liga debut for Betis against Real Madrid in 2007 and did well enough at his first club that he was linked with a move to Liverpool.

He has a great passing range, can operate as a playmaker and also go box-to-box and I'm sure he'll prove to be another excellent addition to the squad.

He spent four years in Spain before moving to Belgian side Westerlo, and most recently chalked up nearly 60 appearances over three seasons with Spezia in Italy.

Juande said: "I haven't seen many A-League games, but it doesn't matter if it's a tough physical league like Serie B in Italy or more technical like the leagues in Spain, I can adapt my game to both styles.

"I spoke to many other Spanish players who have played in the A-League and they all spoke very highly of it, so it was an easy decision to make."

Perth have won both their first two pre-season games, ahead of the glamour friendly against Chelsea at Optus Stadium on Monday.

They beat Perth SC 3-0 in their opener and saw off Gwelup Croatia 6-0, with Chris Harold scoring two of their goals.

Perth are 12/1 to win the 2019 Grand Final.

The Glory are 8/5 to win their first game of the season aganst Western Sydney, who are 8/5 with the draw 8/5.
