Fit-again Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah was benched on Wednesday as Juventus stretched their winning run in Serie A to eight games after beating Hellas Verona 3-0 at the Juventus Stadium.
Asamoah was named in the squad for the match for the first time since recovering from injury but was left on the bench as his side dominated the game.
Two first-half goals from Paulo Dybala and Leonardo Bonucci put the Old Lady firmly in the driving seat at half time and Massimiliano Allegri’s men controlled the match in the second half adding a third through substitute Simone Zaza
The home side started on the front foot and Dybala picked out Stephan Lichtsteiner in the penalty area in the first couple of minutes but his shot whistled just wide.
The hosts did go ahead though just as a few minutes as Dybala struck a fantastic free kick to which Verona keeper Pierluigi Gollini had no chance of keeping out.
The Gialloblu tried to get back into the game and in Luca Toni’s absence, striker Giampaolo Pazzini’s acrobatic effort was saved by Gianluigi Buffon.
Juventus then preceded to control the game and went 2-0 up just before half time.
Once again a Dybala free kick this time from the left hand side and defender Bonucci met the ball with a header unmarked in the penalty to double his side’s lead.
The second half started as the first one had ended with Juventus firmly dominating the game and Verona really struggling to cause them any major problems.
Mastini boss Luigi Delneri decided to change things up on the hour mark by bringing on new signing Urby Emanuelson as well as Juanito Gomez.
Substitute Zaza scored from a Pogba pass on 82 minutes to seal the points.
Victory means that Juventus temporarily go level on points with Inter but still two behind Fiorentina at the top of the table.
Defeat leaves Verona rooted to the bottom and defeat on Sunday would mean that Delneri’s men will have gone through the whole of the first half of the season without a win.
