JUVENTUS, Matuidi: "We need work and improve. Racists do not belong in a stadium"

Previewing tomorrow CL debut against Atletico Madrid, Juventus defensive midfielder Blaise Matuidi, also commenting upon the underwhelming drawn match opposite Fiorentina, stated:

"It is never easy against Fiorentina, and we had also came back from the international break, so many of us had just travelled with their national teams. But we are not looking for excuses: we did not play our best match, and we know it. We can do better, now we have to work to improve our condition. We do not look at the adversaries, but we think about our daily commitment, and to win Scudetto match after match, adapting ourselves to the different situations that will arrive. As far as it concerns me, I have an excellent relationship with the staff and teammates, and I try to give my maximum contribution in order to achieve our goals, which is the most important thing.

We know the importance of the Champions League matches. We will go to Madrid looking for the result. We have a team that can do great things, but playing at Wanda Atletico, which we know well, is never easy. We met them in a friendly in the summer, but it's gonna be different this time: we know that Atletico is a very difficult team to deal with. There are many teams that can win the Champions League, and we are among them. Anything can happen, we want to do something big, facing each match in the competition one at a time".

On the subject of racism, after another attack suffered by Romelu Lukaku: "We can and must improve; racism must be fought. We have the technologies to punish those, and they do not have to stay in a football stadium. They don't belong there, unlike those who go to the stadium only to watch a sports show".
