Juventus' search for a striker reaches 446.8 million euros

If history tells us anything it is that Juventus signing a goal-scoring centre-forward from Fiorentina will end positively for the Bianconeri, and the club will be hoping this is the case with Dusan Vlahovic arriving in Turin, taking their total expenditure in a search for a centre forward to 446.8 million euros.

It has been the best part of a decade since Juventus embarked on the process of securing the signature of a prominent No.9, the kind of player who will define a forward line.

However, many of these purchases have ended up as abject failures, leaving fans conflicted of their own emotions upon the arrival of Serie A's latest goalscoring superstar from Serbia.

The cost of this latest deal comes as somewhat of a surprise, given the delicate financial situation of a lot of clubs in Italy, yet 75 million euros will be sent to Fiorentina in exchange for their leading scorer.

In the 2021/22 season to this point, Vlahovic has scored 17 goals in 21 matches, which is a huge upgrade on the current collection of forwards at the Allianz Stadium, with Alvaro Morata, Moise Kean and Kaio Jorge combining for a grand total of 12 goals.

Paulo Dybala alone has scored 11 from an attacking midfield position, yet the Bianconeri can't seem to sort out his contract extension.

Goals have long been a problem for the Old Lady and the list of players they've signed to try and rectify that over the last decade is staggering.
