K.P Boateng returns to AC Monza team as they close in on serie A promotion with victory over Lecce

Ghanaian forward Kevin Prince Boateng returned to the AC Monza squad after a match absence to help his side to victory over Lecce as they inch close to Serie A promotion.

Boateng missed the 3-1 win at Salernitana over disciplinary issues, having attended a casino in Lugano despite COVID-19 restrictions.

But the 34-year-old started as AC Monza secured a 1-0 victory over Lecce to climb third and stay two points adrift of automatic qualification.

Andrea Barberis 41st minute goal settled the encounter at the Stadio Branteo.

K.P Boateng was replaced by former AC Milan teammate Mario Balotelli in the second half.

Balotelli, a player of Ghanaian descent, starred in Monza's previous game against Salernitana, coming off the bench to bag a brace.

Monza need to beat Concenza and Brescia and hope Salernitana drops points to gain automatic qualification.
