Ghanaian defender Kadiri Mohammed was a stalwart for Arsenal Tula as they defeated Orenburg 4-2 in the quarter final of the Russian Cup on Wednesday.

Tula were hoping to recover from last Sunday's 3-0 loss against Krasnodar in the Russian Premier League when they travelled to the Gazovik Stadium on Wednesday.

Igor Cherevchenko's side were handed a dream start to the game after Zambian forward Evans Kangwa scored on the 7th minute.

Kangwa doubled the visitors advantage in the 21st minute after connecting to Sergey Tkachev's defence splitting pass before Silvije Begic halved the deficit for the hosts four minutes to half time.

With Orenburg threatening to pull level after their impressive start to the second half, Kirill Kombarov scored for Tula in the 62nd minute to restore their two-goal cushioning.

Orenburg again reduced the deficit in the 79th minute through Djordje Despotovic but the visitors took a giant step towards the 2nd leg courtesy substitute forward Luka Djordjevic 95th minute strike.

Kadiri enjoyed the entire duration of the match.

The 2nd leg is scheduled to come off on February 23, 2019.
