Kamaldeen, Acheampong, Amartey make Black Stars return as Akonnor name 30-man squad for friendlies

Ghana coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor has named a 30-man squad, with nine players returning to the squad ahead of next month’s international friendlies against Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire.

The nine players named in the squad will be making a return to the squad after missing the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa and São Tomé in March.

Frank Acheampong (Shenzhen) and Daniel Amartey( Leicester City, England) who have been out of the team for a while will be making a return for the first time under Coach Akonnor.

Acheampong and Amartey have not played under Akonnor since he was appointed head coach last year.

Goalkeeper Richard Ofori, Strasbourg defender Alexander Djiku, Gideon Mensah Samuel Owusu, Andy Yiadom return to the side after missing the AFCON qualifiers due to injuries and COVID-19 restrictions.

Nordsjaelland star Kamaldeen Sulemana also returns to the squad following an impressive season with the Danish side.

Kamaldeen made his debut for the Black Stars against Mali in an international friendly in Turkey last year. 

The 19-year-old has received a lot of interest from top clubs in Europe can justify his inclusion in the squad with his current performance.

Ghana is scheduled to play against Morocco on Tuesday, June 8 in Rabat before taking on Ivory Coast on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the Cape Coast stadium.
