Karela United and Tarkwa United defy Ghana FA Covid-19 directive to play a friendly match today

Karela United and Tarkwa United will incur the wrath of the Ghana Football Association after the two teams arranged a friendly on Sunday in defiance of Covid-19 directive, Ghanasoccernet.com. can report.

The Premier League side and the third-tier side have line-up a friendly at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa on Sunday.

However, the action has been deemed as a direct slap on the FA as Karela United in particular, which is a Premier League club, are yet to undergo a mandatory Covid-19 test before the start of the new season.

Tarkwa United have not undergone any COVID-19 test as a second division side, and can only engage in a friendly with a topflight side with the approval of the FA.

The FA will issue a seal of approval to lower tier sides in case they are to square up with Premier League sides in friendlies.

The Football Association has stated clearly in its COVID-19 protocols that two teams won’t be allowed to engage each other in matches unless they have a seal of approval indicating they have undergone all safety measures including the tests.

Below is a letter from the FA on COVID-19 testing:
