Karela United captain Isaac Hagan says it will be disastrous for him to take a pay cut amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Elsewhere, footballers are being urged to take salary cuts in order to "protect employment throughout the professional game."

Some clubs in Europe have furloughed staff in order to survive as no funds are coming in.

Goalkeeper Hagan says he and other Ghana Premier League players cannot compare themselves with those playing in advanced countries.

He told West FM: ''I'm not ready to accept any pay cut from my management. It's a contract let's respect it because I received a small salary and I can't compare my salary to that of European players who have personal sponsorship.''
