Karim Zito set for Kotoko reunion as head coach after Prosper Ogum exit

Asante Kotoko are set to appoint Karim Zito as their new head coach following the exit of Prosper Narteh Ogum, according to GHANAsoccernet.com sources.

Zito, who currently leads Dreams FC, is expected to sign a two-year deal after receiving a green light from his current employers.

The move marks a significant return for Zito, a former Kotoko player who was part of the club’s historic 1983 CAF Champions League-winning squad.

He also previously served the Porcupine Warriors in various coaching capacities.

His anticipated return comes on the heels of a highly successful spell with Dreams, where he guided them to the semi-finals of the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup and clinched the MTN FA Cup.

Zito was recently named Ghana Premier League Coach of the Month, a reflection of his tactical acumen and ability to get the best out of his squad - qualities Kotoko's management believes can help revitalize their campaign.

Prosper Narteh Ogum’s second stint with Kotoko ended after a dip in form, culminating in back-to-back defeats to Accra Lions and Nations FC.

Despite a decent record of 13 wins in 28 matches, the club felt a change was necessary to reignite their league and FA Cup ambitions.

Zito's appointment is widely seen as a bold but strategic move to steady the ship and restore Kotoko’s dominance in domestic football.
