Barcelona is interested in loaning Anthony Elanga from Manchester United before the transfer window closes.

Following Memphis Depay’s move to Atletico Madrid, the La Liga leaders are debating whether to bring in a new attacking option, with Ousmane Dembele now facing a five-week injury layoff.

Barcelona could also bring in a central midfielder to cover for Sergio Busquets, but if a new forward is a priority today, Xavi’s side will target Elanga, according to ESPN.

Elanga, who broke into the United set-up in impressive fashion last season, has had his game-time limited this season under Erik ten Hag and is said to be willing to leave on loan.

According to recent reports, United have received up to ten bids for the Sweden international, including from Borussia Dortmund, PSV Eindhoven, and Everton.

United were still undecided on whether to sanction a love move as of Monday night, with the club also considering the short-term future of Facundo Pellistri.

United and Barcelona will meet next month in a massive Europa League play-off contest. The Catalans will host ten Hag’s side at the Camp Nou on February 16, followed by the return leg at Old Trafford on February 23.

During the summer transfer window, the two clubs held extensive talks as ten Hag attempted to bring Frenkie de Jong to Manchester.

United pursued a deal for the Dutch international for three months as Barcelona sought to offload the midfielder in order to balance their books.

De Jong, on the other hand, was hesitant to make the move, and United eventually shifted their focus to Casemiro, who arrived from Real Madrid in August.

Valencia is one of the clubs interested in signing Uruguay international Pellistri, and United could sanction a slew of loan moves before today’s deadline.

Zidane Iqbal and Brandon Williams have also been linked with exits.
