Arsenal’s pursuit of Ecuadorian midfielder Moises Caicedo was met with firm resistance from Brighton & Hove Albion, as the Seagulls rejected a £70 million offer from the Gunners.

Despite the significant bid and reported interest from the player and his agent, Brighton stood their ground and held onto the 21-year-old.

This decision came after the departure of Leandro Trossard to Arsenal earlier in January, and the club’s resolve to keep their key players in place. Manuel Sierra, Caicedo’s representative, expressed frustration on behalf of his client, as a move to the Emirates Stadium was a dream for the young star.

‘The offers were received, you see what is on the table and Moises says that he wants to go forward, that it is the dream of his whole life. That it is an opportunity that may not be repeated in life,’  Sierra said to Marca90Ec, via  Olé

‘We helped draft the statement. In that statement he expresses his wish and his gratitude to the club because they gave him the chance to fulfil his dream of playing in the Premier League.

‘We don’t know what can happen tomorrow, maybe he trains and gets injured. We can’t know what’s going to happen.’

The pair attempted to force the transfer through social media, making it clear that Caicedo desired a switch before the transfer deadline. However, their efforts were in vain as Brighton remained steadfast in their refusal to let the talented midfielder depart.
