This is one of the more low-key Lancashire derbies that you will witness as neither team really have much to fight for at the moment as they will probably both finish around mid-table.

Morecambe are having a terrible time at the moment having lost four matches on the bounce. Thankfully for them though, as mentioned above, they are pretty much safe and never had any play-off ambitions anyway.

Jim Bentley’s team have not really been that impressive in either box over the course of the season with 44 scored and 56 conceded in 37 games. They have only lost by 1-0 margins in their last two games which shows their attack is rather impotent at the moment whilst they have also not kept a clean sheet in any of their last five matches.

The Shrimps have one of the worst home records in the entire division with just 19 points taken from 18 games (third-worst). They have picked up a couple of sporadic wins in recent times against Cambridge United and Grimbsy Town but they have not won back-to-back games at the Globe Arena since August in all competitions.

Accrington are the opposite of Morecambe at the moment and are one of League Two’s most in form sides with 16 points taken from their last eight matches – losing none of them. This has pulled them well clear of the drop-zone and seemingly safe for another season.

Defence has been the bedrock to Stanley’s recent success and they have only conceded one goal in their last four games whilst their 5-0 victory against relegation-threatened Leyton Orient showed that they are capable of putting teams to the sword when required.

John Coleman’s side have the fourth-worst away record in League Two with an average of just one point per game. However, they are undefeated in their last four – scoring nine times and finding the back of the net in each of those four games on their travels.

Given Morecambe’s poor recent form and pretty abysmal home record along with Stanley’s resurgence, you have to back the away side here and I am incredibly surprised that the price is as high as 13/10. Backing the visitors is how to do it in this one.
