Kevin-Boateng undergoes Genoa medical

Ghana midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng has already undergone a Genoa medical and could stay rather than go on loan to Milan, according to report in the Italian media.

The 23-year-old is thought to be on his way to Serie A this week with Italian media suggesting he underwent a medical at the Laboratorio Albaro on Friday.

Portsmouth have agreed to hand over Boateng in a transfer worth £5.5m, including Anthony Vanden Borre returning to Fratton Park.

The Belgian spent last season on loan at Portsmouth and would make the move permanent as part of this exchange deal.

It had up until now been believed that Genoa would immediately loan Boateng out to Milan or Lazio.

However, the latest reports suggest he could stay at Marassi for his debut season, even though Miguel Veloso has also joined the club.

It remains to be seen whether Coach Gian Piero Gasperini wants to keep hold of the 2010 World Cup star midfielder or release him to the Rossoneri.
