Kevin Danso's move to AS Roma falls through after medical failure

Austrian-Ghanaian defender Kevin Danso has reportedly failed his medical with Serie A club AS Roma, leading to the collapse of his anticipated transfer to Stadio Olimpico this summer.

The Rome-based team cited health complications as the reason for backing out of the deal just before the transfer deadline.

The agreed transfer fee between RC Lens and Roma was €25 million, including add-ons, with a one-year loan expected to be part of the deal for the current season.

RC Lens, Danso's current club, expressed strong dissatisfaction with the failed transfer in an official statement, saying, "Despite reaching a full agreement with AS Roma, Kevin Danso will not be joining the club. The prolonged interpretation of his medical results led to the transfer being aborted.

"The club is questioning the reasons behind the decision, especially considering Danso's extensive experience, having played over 30 matches on both domestic and international stages. We remain fully confident in his abilities and look forward to having him back on the field after a revised protocol."

Born to Ghanaian parents in Austria, Danso is ineligible to represent Ghana internationally, as he has been capped by the Austrian national team.

Following the failed transfer, Danso is expected to discuss his situation with the responsible parties at RC Lens and focus on his upcoming tasks with the club.
